Duties, Responsibilities & Other

We are searching for an accomplished Senior Engineer to spearhead hydrogen energy transformation projects focused on power generation and electric storage. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the Design Engineering teams.  This strategic position will be instrumental in advancing our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and driving transformative initiatives in the field.

As a Senior Engineer, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead hydrogen energy transformation projects for power generation and electric storage, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals.
  • Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, overseeing the seamless integration of hydrogen technology into transformative energy projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies and risk assessments for hydrogen energy solutions, emphasizing innovation and efficiency.
  • Develop detailed engineering plans and specifications for hydrogen-related components, with a focus on advancing energy transformation initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in hydrogen energy, contributing strategic insights for electricity generation and storage projects.
  • Be familiar with plant design, environmental compliance, and multi-discipline industrial projects.
  • Provide priorities of work, feedback on initiatives, and establish new focus areas to drive continuous improvement, supporting leadership and engineering teams.

Qualified candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in leading and implementing hydrogen energy transformation projects for power generation and storage.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations in the context of energy transformation.
  • Innovative thinking and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficiency in advanced engineering software and tools related to hydrogen system design and energy transformation.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and leadership in large-scale energy transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Appropriate graduate level work. Master's degree preferred.  
  • 6 - 10 years of professional experience.  PE Required.
  • The target candidate will have experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring projects involving both overhead and underground engineering systems.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Performance Expectations

  • Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required
  • Complete other duties as required/assigned
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(75%-80% typical)
  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
  • Chart and provide task performance results
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Prepare interpractice agreements and/or outside requests as required
  • Provide technical project and staff oversight
  • Serve as task manager on select projects
  • Compare field data to base plan
  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
  • Review and approve shop drawings
  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
