Duties, Responsibilities & Other

 

  • Minimum of 9 years' experience performing structural analysis of various building elements and systems comprised of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood, and aluminum for both gravity and lateral loading conditions.
  • Experience using structural design software including Ram Structural Systems, RISA3D, and AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Proven experience in managing building structural engineering projects.
  • Field experience and ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and other disciplines.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or in Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Florida Professional Engineering (PE) license is required. Structural Engineering (SE) license is a plus. NCEES registration is a plus, with the ability to obtain licenses in other states.

Skills, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the engineer in responsible charge for assigned projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform building and building-related structural design, including development of construction drawings for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood, and aluminum structures for both gravity and lateral loading conditions. Review shop drawings, RFI’s, and perform site visits during the construction phase of projects. 
  • Proficiency in developing construction documentation using AutoCAD and Revit. Lead the preparation of structural plans and specifications for construction documents. Ability to coordinate drafters and other engineers to produce AutoCAD and Revit drawings for bid and construction documents for buildings. 
  • Lead staff engineers and engineer designers in the design process from schematic design through the completion of construction.
  • Lead project teams and collaborate with other disciplines. Coordinate the structural design with architectural and MEP designs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam/Adobe. Experience with Ram Structural Systems, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and RISA3D.
  • Providing mentoring and oversight of junior staff. Assist in the technical and professional development of junior staff through formal and informal training efforts.
  • QA/QC of project work performed by staff engineers and engineer designers, including but not limited to: calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and other documentation to ensure accuracy and code compliance.
  • Planning workload, tracking, and meeting budgets for structural tasks/projects.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and help foster new client contacts and business opportunities. Work directly with clients to ensure client satisfaction throughout the project duration. 
  • Experience with all phases of design and providing construction administration/bid phase services.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, commitment to task and project completion, and success.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.  
  • Minimum of 9 - 14 years of professional experience. 
  • Appropriate professional certification preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
