Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Utilities Market is seeking the ideal candidate that possesses experience in Utility Coordination on major projects and oversee staff performing various utility coordination tasks including Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) utility coordination process. This experience will include the review of major highway construction projects including structures and multiple construction phasing and identification of impacts to existing utility infrastructure. The experience should also include execution of utility impact analysis (UIA), coordination with utilities to avoid, minimize and resolve conflicts and execution of utility relocation agreements in accordance with GDOT Utility Accommodation Policies.

 

Additional duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead and Grow KCI’s Utility Coordination and Design efforts in Georgia
  • Market KCI Utility Coordination and Design as well as other disciplines
  • Project Management experience required, with experience in managing and growing a Utility Coordination and Design Team!
  • Experience in developing and managing state DOT projects preferred
  • Proposal preparation including scope, schedule and fee. Contract management and billing.
  • Strong design knowledge of Utility Coordination process required.
  • Prepare written technical proposals, assemble teams to meet client’s criteria, and develop professional relationships.
  • This position requires a demonstrated leader with a broad knowledge of transportation design projects and the processes required to develop design packages utilizing state design standards.
  • Lead, train and develop staff.
  • Responsible for project delivery of complete coordination/oversight of multiple design disciplines
  • Good understanding of Design Build projects and procedures.
  • Successful candidate should have local client contacts and the ability to bring in business.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Utility Impact Analysis (UIA) and review design plans to best determine utility impacts
  • Coordinate with KCI design team for roadway design pursuits and utility tasks
  • Coordinate with KCI Utility Coordination team for GDOT and local municipality tasks
  • Coordinate with GDOT and local municipalities as well as track first and second submission plan sets
  • Represent KCI at preliminary field plan review meetings (PFPR)
  • Review utility cost plans, prior rights determinations, schedules and agreements for relocation
  • Review utility work plans and make recommendations for approval
  • Lead and/or facilitate internal and external meetings regarding utility specific activities
  • Ensure that GDOT requirements for utility certification are met

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License for designated state Preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 4 years Utility Coordination experience with GDOT.
  • Completed Plan Development Process (PDP) Certification from GDOT. 
  • Knowledge of Bentley Design Modules particularly Openroads.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.  
  • Minimum of 9 - 14 years of professional experience. 
  • Appropriate professional certification preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
