KCI Technologies currently has an immediate opening for an experienced, senior level Quality Control Manager/Engineer to manage the develop and monitor quality control program and the Inspection and Testing Plan for the construction of a bored highway tunnel.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

  • Assist with the inspections and training of inspectors for tunneling QC operations.
  • Perform reviews, and acceptance of quality control documents for diaphragm panels, Kodin reports, tunnel liner replacements, grout and slurry testing, concrete and rebar final inspections.
  • Solve construction quality problems in the field, and establish an effective working relationship with contractors, VDOT and other inspectors.
  • Assist in inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of construction associated with tunnel boring and finishing the tunnel for highway use.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract QC change orders, and estimate inspector resources required. Manage subconsultants to coordinate the inspection sampling and testing of construction materials and activities to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
  • Prepare and or review daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required provided by inspectors and ensure completed inspector daily reports with checklists and logs as may be required.
  • Assign QC staffing within budgets and/or staffing requirements needed.
  • Ability to work independently, perform duties in the construction field office, and effectively make decisions concerning construction quality in progress and resolve at the lowest level in the field when possible.
  • Position will work in teams or independently to develop inspection check lists, inspection and testing plans for work.
  • Support and work with the Area QC Manager for islands, tunnel approaches, and tunnel MEP systems, buildings and facilities.

Other:

  • Availability for day and/or night work to support the contractor's schedule.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Required:

  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED or 8 years with a Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
  • Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Ability to maintain required certifications.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred: 

  • Professional license or certification within the field of expertise preferred.
  • CCM
