Duties, Responsibilities & Other

As Pursuit Manager, your job is to:

  • Be an active member and interface regularly with Business Developers, Region Executives and Service Line Leaders, marketing coordinators, technical writers and graphics team, corporate communications, and technical staff to plan and execute business development strategies, initiatives and pursuits.
  • Coordinate with Business Developers, Region Executives, Service Line Leaders, and operations staff to identify marketing opportunities (top projects, needed events, speaking engagements) and develop strategies, including social media, presentations, conference support and strategy, visualizations, event management, and content development to position KCI for success.
  • Take a leadership role in the development of marketing plans to support region-identified pursuits.
  • Directly support Region Executives to identify and qualify opportunities to pursue that align with the region or corporate business plan. Explore historical pursuits to ascertain their worth in pursuit and outcome.
  • Engage directly with Region Executives and regional leadership to develop a list of major pursuits and determine priorities.
  • Analyze, research, and strategize across clients and markets to generate a market entry, or client/project capture plan for all major pursuits/initiatives.
  • Actively lead the process for major pursuits and clients across a specific Professional Services Region from opportunity identification through proposal review, submission and post-submission activities.
    • Drive capture planning efforts, including collaboration and directing multiple pursuit team participants.
    • Lead the team in determining strategy/win themes to position KCI for success.
    • Proactively manage the pursuit team in preparation of technical documents during capture planning. This may include technical/professional writing/editing to:
    • Customize resumes, project experience and other materials to emphasize capture plan strategies and win themes.
    • Edit, write, and review content and have some familiarity with the clients in order to be conversant in their terminology, policies, organizational structure, etc.
    • Develop (with support) custom content which may include specific project approaches, additional features/benefits, differentiators, etc. as the RFP and/or pursuit team may determine.
  • Collaborate with operations staff, proposal coordinators, technical writers and graphics team during the process to create visually appealing graphics, tables, callouts, etc. that make the information visually appealing and highlight key points of the message being conveyed.
  • Advance business development and pursuit management efforts through industry and client involvement including attendance at conferences, industry events, client/teaming partner meetings, technical team meetings, and other external events as necessary/requested.
  • Research client, market, and pursuit data (using internal and external resources) as required to support business development and business planning efforts.
  • Update CRM with pertinent information, developing leads and contacts curated during business development activities and research.
  • Collaborate and support business processes and procedures towards an integrated approach across KCI’s regions and business sectors.
  • Support and participate in client business development relationships and activities.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of strategies, significant proposals, and interviews.
  • Work with technical staff and graphics team to develop/refresh presentations, collateral and other marketing materials.
  • Utilize KCI’s CRM to manage and maintain current information on leads and opportunities, analyze client information and relationships, and produce reports. 
  • Champion annual and long-term strategic business plan initiatives including providing input to Service Line Leaders and Regional Executives during the planning process as well as serving in an active role for executing planned initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of reporting strategies to track progress against goals and ROI on marketing efforts.
  • Comply with KCI’s Quality Management System standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Description/Experience:

The focus of this pursuit management role is to serve as the active driver of activities associated with KCI’s successful accomplishment of business growth initiatives and related business development opportunities.  This will involve working with region leadership to identify strategic pursuits and initiatives up through and including the submission of winning proposals. This position will actively drive the pursuit management process for the following service lines in a Professional Services Region of KCI: Transportation, Facilities, Site/Civil, Construction Management, Survey & Mapping, and Water & Environment. A minimum of three years of experience in the A/E/C industry is required. Geographic location within KCI’s Professional Services Region is strongly preferred. Limited travel to attend industry events, meet with internal and external project/pursuit teams, engage with clients and similar activities is required. Successful candidate will show a high degree of initiative and organization, be inquisitive, accountable, and a self-starter that can accurately and efficiently complete assigned and self-evident tasks on time with minimal oversight. The ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), influentially lead through all levels of the organization, exhibit critical thought, and a strong knowledge of the A/E/C industry and clients are a must. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and nurture internal and external relationships in the region across service lines in support of the business development process.

Qualifications

Qualities/Skills:

 Successful candidate will show a high degree of initiative and organization, be inquisitive, accountable, and a self-starter that can accurately and efficiently complete assigned and evident tasks on time with minimal oversight.  Strong interpersonal communication, influential leadership, technical writing, internal stakeholder management, research/data gathering, and time management skills are required. Candidate must possess a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office and Adobe suites and ability to quickly learn and utilize database, spreadsheet, editing, graphic, CRM, and production software.

 

Degrees/licenses:

High school diploma is required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Other:

Pre-employment drug testing and background check is required as a condition of employment. Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Office dress is business casual. Must be available to work standard office hours based in KCI’s Professional Services Region with overtime if necessary; some travel within the region may be required.
