Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Electrical Technician 2 assists other Apprentices, Journeyman Electricians and Master Electricians with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems. This position is intended for apprentices who have completed initial training and have demonstrated basic competency in electrical work. The Apprentice II performs assigned tasks with limited supervision while continuing formal on‑the‑job training and classroom instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of electrical wiring, conduit, devices, panels, and fixtures
  • Perform basic electrical tasks under the supervision of licensed electricians
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
  • Pull wire, bend and install conduit, and set electrical boxes
  • Install receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures, and low‑voltage components
  • Use basic electrical testing equipment (multimeters, voltage testers, continuity testers)
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements
  • Maintain tools, materials, and a clean, organized work area
  • Transport materials and stage equipment as needed
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
  • Continue apprenticeship classroom training and meet program requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an approved electrical apprenticeship program
  • Completion of Apprentice I requirements or equivalent field experience
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory, tools, and materials
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a construction environment
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop technical skills
  • Reliable transportation to job sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of electrical field experience
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience in commercial or industrial construction environments
  • OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain)

Work Environment

  • Active construction sites and occupied facilities
  • Exposure to electrical hazards, dust, noise, and weather conditions
  • May require overtime, night, or weekend work depending on project needs

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Preferred:

  • Highschool Diploma/GED

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to maintain required certifications.
