Duties, Responsibilities & Other

This position is for a skilled laborer with a minimum of 2 years of general construction experience to assist in the construction of environmental restoration projects.

  • Ability to use all standard hand tools and mechanized landscaping equipment proficiently.
  • Work with construction crews on manual labor activities to support overall project.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and use of PPE
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Ability to follow instructions, lead, train and mentor crews with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Experience as a laborer on stream restoration and/or wetland construction projects preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • A valid current driver’s license is required. A clean driving record as an outcome of a pre-employment motor vehicle records search.

Other:

  • Must be willing to work evenings/weekends when required.
  • Travel for overnight and extended stay projects should be expected.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Work Environment:

Constantly works around moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions subject to varying weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and humidity.

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds independently. Required the ability to stand and walk continuously for extended durations. Involves constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina. Vision requirements include the ability to see clearly at close range, at a distance, and peripherally. Must have the ability to distinguish between different colors.
