This role combines advanced Power BI development, semantic modeling, data visualization, and business analysis skills to transform trusted, curated data into clear, visually polished dashboards and intuitive reports. The Senior BI Developer plays a key role in helping Finance, Operations, project-based teams, and leadership understand performance, identify trends, and make informed business decisions.

This position reports to the Technical Operations Manager and partners with report developers, application developers, Functional Analysts, and the Data Operations Manager to deliver analytics solutions that are accurate, scalable, secure, visually effective, and aligned with enterprise standards. While deeply hands-on, the Senior BI Developer operates with strong ownership and judgment, bringing together technical expertise, design thinking, data quality awareness, and stakeholder communication to advance BI best practices, data literacy, and adoption across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, and datasets using governed data from Dynamics 365 and other enterprise systems.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, user-friendly analytics solutions.
  • Create intuitive, visually compelling dashboards that follow enterprise data visualization and usability standards.
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineer to improve data models, resolve data quality issues, and optimize reporting solutions.
  • Partner with the Data Operations Manager to refine reporting requirements, estimate effort, and support work prioritization.
  • Develop reusable semantic models, certified datasets, standardized KPIs, and common calculations to support enterprise reporting.
  • Validate report accuracy by reconciling results with business rules, source systems, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Optimize report performance, DAX calculations, dataset refreshes, and overall solution scalability.
  • Manage Power BI workspaces, deployment pipelines, security, refresh schedules, and report lifecycle activities.
  • Monitor report usage and user feedback to improve adoption, usability, and reporting effectiveness.
  • Establish BI development standards, documentation, and best practices while mentoring other BI developers.
  • Evaluate emerging Microsoft technologies, including Fabric and AI capabilities, to enhance analytics and reporting.
  • Create and maintain documentation for report logic, data definitions, security, and business assumptions.
  • Support user acceptance testing, production deployments, and post-implementation issue resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, expand self-service analytics, and increase data literacy across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

* Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.
